The True Measure of a Man

We all want to be comfortable. We all want to avoid pain and experience pleasure. But – have you noticed that it is only in times of difficulty, dissatisfaction, challenging situations – that we grow?

It’s as if we need something to push us into the direction of something better, someplace better, just BEING a better version of ourselves, and that can never happen when we are comfortable.

When we are comfortable, we just sit around getting fat and bored – and very unfulfilled I might add. We don’t have to do anything – everything is so easy. But do you also notice that those who apparently “have it all” somehow seem totally dissatisfied with their lives; there is no challenge – no growth; and remember what I said in an earlier post? The moment we stop growing – we die!

“A true measure of a person is not measured by where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience – but by where he stands in moments of challenge and controversy” ~Dr. Martin Luther King.

It is very easy to be polite, thoughtful, happy, positive, and all that good stuff when you are comfortable and you enjoy all the convenience money can buy. But who do you become when you are faced with life’s challenges and controversy swirls round about you? Do you withdraw into your shell, become morose and unpleasant, depressed and sour? Who or what do you become?

I’m not saying that it’s easy to smile when everyone and everything seems to be against you. But remember that you alone can MAKE THE CHOICE on how you respond to life’s challenges. Choose instead to be happy – even when things around you seem to be falling apart. If you really think about it – what can you do about it anyway? The only person you have control over is YOU! Take charge of you and DECIDE who you become when you are faced with life’s challenges and controversy!

Stay strong! You are a child of the MOST HIGH!!! Act like the PRINCE or PRINCESS you were created to be!
