The only person you are destined to be, is the person you decide to be.
So many of us sit back and assume that life is going to “happen” to us. We use the excuse that God – or whomever one believes in – is going to reach out with a magic wand and zap us to “cause” us to succeed, “cause” us to lose weight, “cause” us to have better relationships, “cause” us to feel better about ourselves.
Yes I said God – because that is who I believe in, and whom I belong to, and yes – I know it’s not socially appropriate to say His name in a public forum; however, for those who do not like hearing the name of God – then it’s really an easy problem to solve – just don’t read my posts, since God is the center of my life and He will inevitably be a part of my communications from time to time.
As I was saying, God gave us the power of free will and the power to choose to be whom or what we decide to be. He gave us EVERYTHING we need to succeed! When I think of the many things invented by man, the many diseases for which there is now a cure, the many architectural marvels man has imagined and then brought to fruition – it proves all the more that we can do almost anything we set our minds to. The problem is that we minimize our abilities, abort our dreams, and make excuses for all the things we “believe” we cannot achieve.
There are men and women who use these abilities to do harm rather than good. I often think how much better this world would be if those who spend so much time and energy doing harm and stealing from others – that if they were to use these same abilities to do good – not only would they do very well at whatever they choose to do, but that the world as a whole would be so much better for it.
As I said before – “The only person you are destined to be, is the person you decide to be.” Tell me – “Who have you decided to be?”
