You are here:--If you want to succeed; you MUST learn to live with failure.

If you want to succeed; you MUST learn to live with failure.

No – I didn’t mean to be so comfortable with failure that you stop trying. What I am saying though is that anything you aspire to will most definitely come with it’s share of failure.

The good thing though is that we learn so much more from failure, than we could ever hope to learn from success!

Let me explain because I can see that brow raised in inquiry 🙂

Failure shows what does not work; it also compels you to look for other ways of solving the problem. So many times we end up learning some valuable lesson that – without having failed – we would never learn.

Failure DEMANDS that we grow! If we always achieve success on the first try – we would never learn to persevere in the face of set-backs, never look for different ways of doing things, never develop the drive and tenacity that will inevitable serve us when we encounter more difficult challenges…

Failure also teaches us to ask for help. Sometimes we live in our own little world; believing that we can be and do everything on our own. However, we were not meant to be loners – we were meant to work in communities, in teams, in support of each other. Failure DEMANDS that we learn to communicate with others.

Failure also teaches RESILIENCE. Without failure we could never learn how strong/resilient we can be in times of trouble. Knowing that we are capable develops our sense of self, and self-esteem. We KNOW we can! It’s not just a “head knowledge” anymore. We have been there – done that!

My purpose in writing this piece today is just to remind you that failure is not the end of the road. In fact, it is just the beginning, and if you can, in the words of Winston Churchill, “Stumble from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm” – then you will meet with something we call “Success” – and isn’t that our ultimate goal?

However, don’t negate the value failure brings. Without failure, you will never enjoy the success when it comes.
